Experience the Logistics Chain – 2024 Edition
In 2024, the seventh edition of the event “Experience the Logistics Chain” took place. This successful initiative aims to excite pupils, students, and job seekers about education and careers in the logistics sector. The logistics sector is rapidly evolving into a knowledge-intensive industry, driven by innovation and sustainability. During this event, participants have a unique opportunity to experience this dynamic sector from the inside and to leave behind outdated views of traditional logistics.
A Sector Full of Speed and Innovation
Many people still associate logistics with hauling heavy boxes and paper waybills. However, the modern logistics sector is characterized by advanced technologies, automation, and a strong focus on sustainability. During Experience the Logistics Chain 2024, participants will discover how these innovations are transforming the sector and what diverse career opportunities are available. With the increasing demand for well-trained professionals, now is the perfect time to explore logistics.
Programme
The 2024 edition consisted of three parts, each aimed at a specific target group:
4 September – Circularity and Generational Management
Wednesday, 4 September was specially organised for university and applied sciences students. On this day, we focused on the themes of circularity and generational management. We discussed the role of circularity in the supply chain and how generational management can contribute to the development of competencies. Additionally, there was a meet & greet for students and professionals, where opportunities for further development, education, and careers were discussed.
25 September – General Introduction and VR Experience
On Wednesday, 25 September, the event focused on a general introduction to the logistics sector. Participants could engage in various activities, including a Virtual Reality session that brought the logistics chain to life. There was also a meet & greet where information was provided about further development, education, and career opportunities.
Informal Introduction for Secondary School Students
A special day was organized for secondary school students. This day featured informal and engaging activities to give students a clear picture of the logistics sector, including information about educational pathways.

Experience the Logistics Chain 2024 was made possible through a collaboration between various logistics companies, educational institutions, and organizations:
Companies:
Arvato, Canon, DHL Supply Chain, Ewals Cargo Care, GXO, KLG Europe, LogicLeap,
Neptunus, Redcare, Rhenus Logistics en Seacon Logistics.
Educational institutions & knowledge organizations: Maastricht University, Fontys University of Applied Sciences Venlo, Gilde Opleidingen, Summa College and various secondary schools in the North Limburg region.
Government, labor market organizations, and other organizations: Employers Service Point North Limburg (for job seeker participation), Supply Chain Valley (co-organizer and venue for some of the activities), and Meet the Youngsters.
This joint effort aims to strengthen the image of the logistics sector and attract new talent. Venlo, as a logistics hotspot, offers plenty of career opportunities in this innovative and essential sector.
